About us

We strive to build a relationship that helps you deliver meaningful CPD to your staff and in turn, improve their engagement with it. Our normal working practice is to meet with you and make sure we fully understand your needs. Important elements of any training are agreeing impact measures; how will you know that the training has been effective/ value for money, and what areas of reporting would you like on participants? Naturally, we work with you and guide you through this process. Once complete, we put together a proposal that you are happy with.

Meet the Team

The Training and Learning Centre (TLC) is a small part of a very big whole. At the core of our corporate training in Brunei include an array of global leaders in all areas of coaching, mentoring and training. The TLC as a part of Education Development Trust is able to draw on these respected leaders to offer unparalleled training solutions for companies in Brunei and the wider ASEAN region.

Core Training Team

Robert Tunnell

MA, BA(Hons), CELTA, DELTA, Dip (Humanities), CELTA/DELTA Trainer, CELT-P Trainer

Head of Training and Learning, Rob has been working as a trainer and teacher trainer for 17 years. A former small business manager in banking, Rob moved into teaching English in 1999, and has since worked and lived on 4 continents.

Rob has presented at several conferences and has headed up business development trips in both Russia and the Ukraine.

As a trainer, Rob has worked with both SMEs and multi-nationals and at government and diplomatic levels. Rob brings a range of general and project management experience to the team.

Jessica Tieng

Jessica is a native-Bruneian, whose mother tongue is English but she is also fluent in Malay. Educated in the UK, Jessica holds a bachelor’s degree in health and social care from Cardiff Metropolitan University. 

Jessica began her teaching career at the International School Brunei. Following there, Jessica went on to teach English at an educational institution in Brunei where she found a love for the subject. This prompted a return to education while she became a qualified teacher and gained a Master’s in Teaching at UBD. More recently, Jessica completed her CELTA qualification.

Jessica is currently the Director of Studies at the Training and Learning Centre, managing the teaching team looking after all private individuals in education from children to adults. She works closely with Robert Tunnell in the design and delivery of corporate courses to various private companies and government agencies.

Course Description:

In this course participants will learn how to plan and deliver effective presentations. They will learn how to boost their confidence when speaking to an audience as well as how to shape an effective presentation. They will also learn how to use their voice and body language to communicate more powerfully.

Course Description:

Reports, whether technical, financial or progress are key management tools in any business. In this course, participants will increase their knowledge of, and efficiency in, writing reports appropriate to their business context.

Course Description:

Course Description:

Participants on this course will be able to master basic bargaining techniques having first acquired a complete grounding in negotiation type (WATNA, BATNA, WAP and ZOPA). Participants will further be able to apply strategies for mutual gain, reaching a consensus and setting terms of agreement.

Course Description:

The CPC course participants will be better able to work in teams, either virtual or real. Team Building CPC210

Course Description:

This two-day course engages participants in activities specifically designed to promote or explore a workrelated theme. Following each input, participants are led, through self-discovery or supported training, to reflect on how this relates to working for their team in their company, and secondly how it might be integrated into a good working practice or adapt an existing practice. Participants can expect to explore ideas such as teamwork and unity, through Belbin’s team roles, empathy and listening skills through Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats, and change management through John Knotter’s Leading Change, to name but a few options.
